What makes a Discord server healthy? The four signals behind our 100-point score
Member count says almost nothing about health. Four measurable signals do. Here is how we weight them and what moves each one.
A 60,000-member server with 300 people online and no messages since Tuesday is not healthy. A 900-member server with 200 messages a day is. Our health score exists to make that difference visible before you click join.
The four signals

A score of 100 means: working invite, messages within the hour, an owner who was around this fortnight, and a bot that can keep measuring.
Why these and not member count
Member count is cheap to inflate and slow to decay. Online count is better but includes idle tabs. Messages per day is the closest public proxy for "people are here and talking". Owner presence separates communities from abandoned ones. Invite validity is binary and unforgiving, which is exactly why it carries the most weight.
Activity levels
Messages per day also sets the activity level shown on cards: low under 50, medium 50–500, active 500–3,000, very active above 3,000. Filters on the browse page use these buckets.
Improving your score this week
- Invite (40): create a permanent invite from a channel that will never be deleted. Guide.
- Recency (30): schedule one daily prompt or a bot-free "good morning" thread. It is not about volume, it is about never going silent for a day.
- Owner (15): post from the owner account at least once every two weeks, even a recap.
- Bot (15): do not kick the bot after listing. It only counts; it never reads or stores content.
What we never store
The bot increments counters — messages, joins, leaves, unique active members per day. It does not store message content, usernames of chatters or anything that identifies who said what. Privacy details.
