The best Minecraft Discord servers in 2026: SMPs, modded, technical and official
Where to find Minecraft Discord servers for whitelisted SMPs, modpacks, redstone and building, the official communities worth joining, and a 10-point check to vet any SMP.
The best Minecraft Discord servers depend on what you want to do in the game: the official MINECRAFT server (about 4.1 million members) for news, build contests and community events; a whitelisted SMP if you want a long-running survival world with the same 20 people; modpack Discords such as All The Mods or Feed The Beast for modded play; SciCraft and Storage Tech for redstone and technical builds; and network Discords like Hypixel or CubeCraft if you want minigames with a queue rather than a community. Below is where to start for each, how Java and Bedrock affect your choice, and a ten-point check to run on any SMP before you send an application.
Member counts in this guide come from Discord's own invite data on 13 October 2026. They move daily, so treat them as size classes rather than rankings.
Quick picks by what you want
| You want | Start here | Edition | Size |
|---|---|---|---|
| News, build contests, community events | MINECRAFT (discord.gg/minecraft) |
Both | about 4.1M |
| Minigames and SkyBlock | Hypixel (discord.gg/hypixel) |
Java | about 491k |
| Minigames on Java and Bedrock | CubeCraft (discord.gg/cubecraft) |
Both | about 133k |
| An MMORPG inside vanilla Minecraft | Wynncraft (discord.gg/wynncraft) |
Java (Bedrock page on its site) | about 223k |
| Kitchen-sink modpacks | All The Mods (discord.gg/allthemods) |
Java | about 178k |
| Classic modpacks and support | Feed The Beast | Java | about 106k |
| Redstone and farm design | SciCraft (discord.gg/scicraft) |
Java | about 36k |
| Storage systems | Storage Tech | Java | about 69k |
| Commands, data packs, maps | Minecraft Commands | Any | about 19k |
| A small survival world with friends | A whitelisted SMP | Either | 20 to 200 |
Two notes on the table. The Feed The Beast, Storage Tech and Minecraft Commands servers use non-vanity invites, so take the link from their own websites or Discord's Discover page rather than from a stranger. And "Both" means the community covers both editions, not that every server it talks about accepts both clients.
Java or Bedrock: decide before you search
Edition is the first filter, because it decides which servers you can physically join.
- Java Edition runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, and it is where nearly all modded, technical and whitelisted SMP play happens. Java servers listen on port 25565 by default.
- Bedrock Edition runs on consoles, mobile and Windows. Bedrock servers use port 19132 over UDP.
- Crossplay servers run Java server software with the Geyser plugin, which its developers describe as "a bridge/proxy allowing you to connect to Minecraft: Java Edition servers with Minecraft: Bedrock Edition". Many add Floodgate, which, according to the GeyserMC wiki, lets Bedrock players join "without needing a paid Minecraft: Java Edition account".
If an SMP advertises "Java and Bedrock", ask whether it runs Geyser. It almost always does, and it matters: Bedrock players on a Geyser server are playing Java rules with Java mechanics, so redstone and farms behave the Java way.
Realms are not servers you find on Discord. A Realm is a private, invite-only world hosted by Mojang. Per minecraft.net, Realms for Java Edition costs $7.99 a month for you plus 10 players online at once, Bedrock Realms costs $3.99 for you plus 2, and Realms Plus for Bedrock costs $7.99 for you plus 10. Realms also never cross editions: Java players only join Java Realms. If a Discord server says "we play on a Realm", expect a small group with an owner who controls every invite.
SMPs: whitelisted vs public
SMP ("survival multiplayer") originally meant any survival server. In 2026 it usually means a single persistent survival world with a fixed community. The Discord is the real front door: applications, rules, events and the shop channel all live there.
Whitelisted SMPs
A whitelist is a server-side allowlist of accounts. On Java the owner adds you with /whitelist add YourName; on Bedrock Dedicated Server the command is /allowlist add YourName. Nobody else can connect, which is the single best protection against griefers.
What to expect:
- An application form, usually a Google Form, a Discord form bot or a ticket. Typical questions: age, timezone, what you like to build, how you found the server, and a past-server reference.
- A wait of a day to a week, sometimes a short voice interview.
- A trial period where your role is limited.
- A world that is reset rarely, often only when the community votes for a new "season" after a major update.
Whitelisted SMPs suit people who want to build something that will still be there in six months. They rarely appear in big public lists because they cap membership, so search by tag rather than by member count; the SMP tag on Discordfinder is where whitelisted servers listed with that tag appear.
Public SMPs and networks
Public SMPs let anyone connect. The good ones protect builds with land claims instead of a whitelist. Large networks go further and split play into minigames, SkyBlock, prisons or factions, each with its own channels on Discord.
- Hypixel (listing) describes its Discord as "the official Hypixel Minecraft Network Discord". The network is Java-only; the Discord is pitched at connecting with other players, chatting about games and sharing tips.
- CubeCraft calls its server "the official Discord server for the CubeCraft Games Java & Bedrock Minecraft servers" and carries the Minecraft Partner label in its description.
- Wynncraft describes itself as a "full-fat MMORPG Minecraft server" with "no mods required", joined at
play.wynncraft.com. - 2b2t, the long-running anarchy server, has a 30k-member "2b2t Community" Discord. Anarchy means no rules in-game, so treat it as the opposite of a vetted SMP.

Building and creative
The official MINECRAFT Discord is the obvious first stop. Mojang's own site describes it as the place to "share your creations, join build contests, and take part in community activities", and the build contests are the best free way to get feedback from people who are not your friends.
For long projects, BuildTheEarth is a community project "recreating our entire planet in Minecraft at a 1:1 scale", according to buildtheearth.net. Its joining process is Discord-first: you find the Build Team for the region you want to recreate, join that team's Discord server, and most teams ask for a small trial build before giving you build rights. The main Discord is linked from the website.
For map-makers, command blocks and data packs, the Minecraft Commands Discord ("Minecraft commands, data packs, mapmaking, and more!") is linked from the community-run Minecraft Wiki, which also has its own Discord of about 11,600 members for wiki editors.
What to look for in a creative server's Discord: a showcase or screenshots channel with recent posts, clear rules on copying other people's builds, and whether creative plots are protected (WorldGuard regions or plot plugins) or simply trust-based.
Modded: modpack communities, CurseForge and Modrinth
Modded Minecraft runs on mod loaders, not vanilla, and lags the vanilla version. Java's current release is the 26.3 drop from September 2026, while big kitchen-sink packs stay on older bases for stability; All the Mods 10, for example, runs on 1.21.1 with NeoForge. Always check the pack version before joining a modded server's Discord, because the server, your launcher profile and the Discord's support channel all need to match.
Where modded players gather:
| Discord | What it is for | Size |
|---|---|---|
| All The Mods | "Minecraft and mods", support for ATM packs, finding a server to play on | about 178k |
| Feed The Beast | "Support, casual chatting and modpack specific discussions" for FTB packs | about 106k |
| CurseForge | The platform's official hub, covering Minecraft and other games | about 467k |
| Modrinth | The open-source mod platform's community | about 84k |
| The Fabric Project | The Fabric loader and its mods | about 63k |
| The NeoForged Project | The NeoForge loader | about 37k |
The pattern that works: join the Discord of the specific pack you play, read its server-list or "looking for server" channel, and only then look at third-party modded SMPs. Pack Discords know which community servers run the current version and which are abandoned.
Only install mods and packs through a launcher or from CurseForge and Modrinth directly. Never run a .jar someone sends you in DMs "to join our server". In June 2023 the fractureiser malware spread through hijacked CurseForge and Bukkit developer accounts and stole browser, Discord, Microsoft and Minecraft credentials, as BleepingComputer reported. If an official platform can be hit, a random DM link is far worse.
Technical and redstone
Technical Minecraft means farms, flying machines, storage systems and exploiting game mechanics on purpose. Nearly all of it happens on Java Edition, and server software matters: some performance-focused server software changes mechanics that technical players rely on, so a technical SMP should state exactly what it runs.
- SciCraft describes itself as a "world famous technical minecraft server". The server itself is whitelisted, but its Discord (about 36k members) is open and is where many designs are first discussed.
- Storage Tech is "a community dedicated to Minecraft storage systems", with about 69,000 members on Discord's Discover page. It is the place for sorting systems and item storage designs.
- PaperMC (about 56k) and GeyserMC (about 56k) are support communities for server software, useful if you are about to run your own SMP rather than join one.
Technical SMPs often ask applicants for screenshots or world downloads of past farms. That is normal and is a good sign the whitelist is enforced.
Official and big communities
| Server | Discordfinder listing | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| MINECRAFT | /s/minecraft | Mojang's official server: about 4.1M members, Verified, Discoverable |
| Hypixel | /s/hypixel | Official network Discord, about 491k members, Verified |
| Remembering Technoblade | /s/remembering-technoblade | The official r/Technoblade server, about 123k members, Partnered |
The official MINECRAFT server is linked from minecraft.net, which is the safest way to get the real invite. Big servers are good for asking questions and finding groups, but nobody will remember your name. Use them as a hub, then move to a smaller SMP or pack Discord for actual play. Our guide to the best gaming Discord servers by game covers the official servers for other titles if your group plays more than Minecraft.
How to vet an SMP before you join
Run these ten checks on the Discord before you put hours into the world. Most take seconds.
- Edition and version are stated. A good server says "Java 26.3, Bedrock via Geyser" or "NeoForge 1.21.1, ATM10" in the server description or rules. Vague "all versions welcome" usually means a network, not an SMP.
- Whitelist or claims, one or the other. A public SMP with no land claims is a grief server waiting to happen. Look for claim plugins such as GriefPrevention, which its authors call "the self-service anti-griefing Bukkit plugin for Minecraft servers since 2011".
- Rollback logging. Ask whether they run block logging such as CoreProtect, "a fast, efficient, data logging and anti-griefing tool" that can "rollback and restore any amount of damage". If staff cannot roll back grief, a whitelist is your only protection.
- Backups. Ask how often the world is backed up and where. "Daily, off-site" is the answer you want.
- Rules that cover the game, not just chat. Griefing, stealing, PvP consent, lag machines and farm size limits should be written down. If the rules only cover Discord behaviour, in-game disputes will be settled by whoever is online.
- Monetisation within Mojang's rules. The Minecraft Usage Guidelines let servers charge for access and sell cosmetics, but entitlements must not "give a competitive advantage in the game", and pricing must be shown "before a person joins". A shop selling diamond armour or flight on survival is a red flag.
- Uptime and age. Look at the announcements channel: how long it has existed, how many seasons, and whether downtime is announced. A server that is three weeks old with a donation goal is a gamble.
- Age policy. Discord requires users to be at least 13, and many SMPs set 16 or 18 as their own minimum. Check the rules for an age floor and whether the community is mixed-age; either is fine, but it should be stated.
- Linked chat and staff presence. Bridges like DiscordSRV, "the most powerful, configurable, open-source Discord to Minecraft bridging plugin available", put in-game chat in a Discord channel. Scroll it: recent messages from several different players tell you the world is actually played.
- A permanent invite. An SMP whose invite expires every seven days will disappear from your history; one with a permanent link has thought about the long term. Our guide to permanent Discord invite links explains why this matters.
If a server passes eight or more, apply. If it fails checks 2, 3 and 4 together, do not build anything you would mind losing.
Minecraft servers listed on Discordfinder right now
These are the servers on the Minecraft tag that passed today's health check: a valid invite, messages in the last 24 hours and an active owner. Discordfinder re-checks every invite every 15 minutes, so a dead link does not stay marked alive.
| Server | Listing | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| MINECRAFT | /s/minecraft | The official Minecraft Discord |
| Hypixel | /s/hypixel | Official Discord for the Hypixel network |
| Remembering Technoblade | /s/remembering-technoblade | Official r/Technoblade community for fans of the late Minecraft YouTuber |
| Xevora | /s/xevora | Arabic-language gaming community, about 1,500 members, covering Minecraft, Roblox and Free Fire |
| ExtremeX Studio | /s/xtreme-tudio | Hindi-speaking Indian Minecraft and gaming community with voice chat and events, under 100 members |
| /echo | /s/echo | Small general community of about 150 members, tagged Minecraft, anime and Roblox |
The first three are among the huge Minecraft servers; /echo and ExtremeX Studio are small Minecraft servers where you will actually be noticed. None of the six is a whitelisted SMP yet. If you run one, list it for free: a listing with an application process and a stated edition is exactly what this guide tells readers to look for.
To find a server for any other game the same way, see how to find a Discord server for any game, or browse all gaming servers.
Try it: open the Minecraft tag on Discordfinder, filter by size or language, and join only servers marked alive in the last check. Running an SMP? Add it under the SMP tag so the next reader of this guide can find it.
