How upvotes and the daily boost work on Discordfinder (and why they cannot be farmed)
Boosts move the ranking, so they are the thing people try to game. Here is exactly how they are counted and limited.
Ranking on Discordfinder has two layers. The tier decides the group a listing sits in; the score decides the order inside the group.
Tiers
- Premium listings that are alive.
- Everything else that is alive.
- Sleeping or broken listings — only visible when you switch "Alive only" off.
A dead Premium listing is still dead. Payment never moves a listing across tiers.
Inside a tier
Listings are ordered by boosts in the last seven days, then by the rank score:
- boosts × 3 (×2 for Premium)
- upvotes × 1 (×2 for Premium)
- activity level: low 0, medium 4, active 8, very active 12
- ln(1 + online now)
- recency: 3 points if the last message was within the hour, 1 within a day
- rating: (average − 3) × min(reviews, 20) / 20 × 2
- −50 if the server is sleeping
Boosts
One per person per day across the whole site. You choose which server gets it; it resets at midnight UTC. Requirements: Discord login, a Discord account at least seven days old, and one boost per IP address per day. Cards show "Boosted by N people today" with the raw count.
Upvotes
One per person per listing per day. Cheaper than a boost, so it counts less.
Why this cannot be farmed cheaply
- Alt accounts younger than a week cannot boost at all.
- One boost per IP per day makes VPN farms expensive.
- Every boost and upvote is written to an audit log; when a pattern appears, the boosts are voided and the owner is warned.
- Boosts decay: only the last seven days count, so a one-time push fades quickly and real, repeated support wins.
What Premium changes, exactly
Premium doubles the weight of boosts and upvotes, pins the listing in the top tier of its tags and search, allows a card highlight colour, and makes the server eligible for the home page rotation. It never rescues a broken invite or a silent server. Premium details.
